Police Constable Anibal Mena passed away over the weekend. Mena was involved in a road traffic incident on September 3 and received grave injuries to the brain. He was admitted in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and was later transported to the Belize Medical Associates where he passed away Saturday morning. Love News spoke to his wife, Teresita Mena who stated that her husband was the breadwinner of the family and he will especially be missed by the four children she leaves behind.
Teresita Mena, Wife of Deceased: “He was a marvelous person. I was sixteen years old when I met him in a church service. He was the president of a church group and I was the president of my village that was the day we met. He will be missed. I loved him a lot. My kids will miss him a lot. They can’t believe that my husband has gone. We don’t have words to express.”
Reporter: Was he the bread winner in your family or do you work as well?
Teresita Mena, Wife of Deceased: “No only him, he was the only one working.”
According to the wife, the driver of the vehicle that knocked down Mena has not acknowledged the family and they do not know where the investigation stands with the police.
