Last week we told you of the case where a 15-year-old boy reported that he was raped by a police constable in Punta Gorda Town. The officer, PC Marcus Che has since been charged and placed on interdiction, but Love News understands that an internal investigation and a criminal investigation are running simultaneously. Police Commissioner Chester Williams made an appearance on The Morning Show today where he engaged with the hosts on the matter.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “It’s just disgusting Troy. I have heard a number of the questions people have been asking “how could he have done this at the police station, other police officers do not know ?” it is possible. The office that he was assigned to is on the upper flat of the Punta Gorda Town Police Station and the PG police station on a weekend will be like a ghost house. Quiet. The few officers who would be working will be out on patrol and maybe only one person left at the station that’s the diarist. If you see a police officer who works upstairs coming to the office it’s not unusual and if he has someone with him that’s not unusual either so there is nothing that could have prompted the attention of the officer who would have been downstairs working when he would have seen this officer going up with the individual. But I maintain my position that it is something that ought not to have happened and especially in the police station and so our task now is to make sure that we restore that trust and confidence in the people of Punta Gorda Town that we will do all we can to make sure that the police officer does not do this to another person and to make sure also that there is no recurrence of such activity in the police.”
Troy Gabb, Host, The Morning Show: That officer is on interdiction ?
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Yes he’s on interdiction yes.”
Ernesto Vasquez, Host , The Morning Show: But sometimes these stories like this they say there’s more than meets the eye. I mean would something like this be ventilated throughout ? And even though the man is at fault, it’s a minor but the conditions we go back to –
Troy Gabb, Host, The Morning Show: It’s an allegation.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “Yes.”
Ernesto Vasquez, Host , The Morning Show: And the social standing and so on, if he can walk in with a person the person obviously was going willingly and they nuances and the details of these stories need to come out as well.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “I know that is what the public wants but I think it would be irresponsible of us to do that. To fully ventilate the issue in the public domain at this time. The day is going to come for the matter to go to court and the police will be able to raise whatever he wishes to raise at that particular instance but like you rightly said this is a minor and I don’t see any excuse on the part of the police.”
29-year-old, Marcus Che was charged for carrying out an unnatural crime. The incident reportedly occurred inside the Domestic Violence Unit inside the PG Police Station.
