Police Constable Karen August is in critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after she was knocked off a motorcycle early this morning. PC August was heading to her home in Succotz Village, Cayo District after coming off duty at the Kontiki subformation. She was a passenger on a motorcycle when a dark colored SUV hit the cycle and injured both August and the drive, who is also a police officer. August’s sister, Rosita Itza reached out to our newsroom asking for the public’s assistance.
Rosita Itza, Sister of Karen August: “Well the truth is that it’s very critical because she’s not doing very well. She is in the ICU in very serious condition. The doctor say she has a 50/50 chance. She has two kids. She has a four year old and a seven year old. All we want to know is who did it because up to now nobody has come forward and we need help. We want to know who it is because it is not fair she is fighting between life and death and we need more money so we can run some more tests because we don’t have the money. All we’re asking is for justice and for whoever caused the accident to come forth and assist the family and face the law because it is not fair. She is fighting for her life. She has two kids. All we know is that it’s a white car, a white pickup.”
Love News understands that the San Ignacio/Santa Elena Police Station is planning a fundraiser to assist the family with medical expenses. An appeal is made to the public for contributions.
