Police Department launches William Dawson SPRITE-DIGI Youth Basketball Tournament to promote peace among Belize City gangs

As part of the efforts to minimize crime and engage young persons positively, the Police Department launched a William Dawson SPRITE-DIGI Youth Basketball Tournament. The 6-month tournament will bring together men from marginalized communities from Belize City and villages in the Belize District. The tournament is geared at promoting peace among Belize City gangs and is being held in honor of William Dawson, the late Chairman of the Leadership Intervention Unit. Minister of Home Affairs, Kareem Musa, says the goal is to create comradery through sports.

The Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams, also spoke about the importance of the tournament and the success it is expected to have.
