Chaos erupted last night in the Yarborough area in Belize City when police officers attempted to break up a gathering. Several videos were taken of the incident accompanied by several allegations. Among those allegations were a case where the police officers came under attack and had to call in reinforcements, and the other allegation is that the unjustifiable force was being used by police. There is an ironic twist to the entire story, however, as the very same civilians who were arrested last night are the very same men who rescued several law-enforcement last November when their boat took on water. Reporter Vejea Alvarez went to the area this morning to see what intel he could find, considering that the Police’s Director of Communications, Fitzroy Yearwood refused to comment on the matter.
Just before news time tonight, ASP Fitzroy Yearwood responded to the media’s request for an interview, saying, quote, “I was hoping that our investigation would have reached a point where charges would have been levied by this time against those that were involved in that attack against the Police last night on Queen Charlotte Street, but unfortunately not as yet. As soon as I get a detailed report I will pass it on to you.” End of quote
