Police find guns, ammo, and drugs

Since Monday police operations in the Cayo and Belize District has yielded two firearms, 34 rounds of ammunition and about 1,300 grams of drugs. On Monday, police search in an abandoned lot on Antelope Street Extension, Belize City, where they came across a .22 revolver pistol. On Wednesday, officers searched an abandoned lot on Moya Street where they found twenty-four 40 Caliber GFL rounds of ammunition and ten 9mm GFL Lugar live rounds of ammunition. The ammunition was hidden in some bushes. On that same day, law enforcement officers searched another abandoned lot on the same street and they found 1107 grams of marijuana. In these instances, no one was in the area at the time of the discoveries so all items were deposited as ‘found property’. Meanwhile, in Caye Caulker, there charged 19 years old of Sandy Anthony Santoya with drug trafficking. Officers searched Santoya’s residence on Avenida Pueblo Nuevo and found 1.47 of cocaine. And while Caye Caulker police were busy charging Santoya, Benque police were dealing with a minor who was caught with marijuana. Police were conducting vehicle checkpoint between miles 71 and 72 on the George Price Highway, yesterday morning when they searched a public bus which had left Benque Viejo del Carmen Town and was heading to San Ignacio Town. Inside the bus, police found a bag which contained 205 grams of marijuana. Also inside the bag police found identification documents which led them to the minor. That minor was arrested and charged with drug trafficking.
