The double homicide of Junior Triminio and Christopher Calderon is still a priority case for the police Department. Both men were executed as they exited a football tournament at the Louisiana Government School Football Field on Zericote Street in Orange Walk Town. Calderon is suspected to be collateral damage as Trimino, with his close association to the Back-a-Town Crips Gang, was the target. Assistant Superintendent of Police, Alejandro Cowo, the Officer in charge of the Crimes Investigation Branch for Belize City, gave the media an update into the case’s progress.
ASP Alejandro Cowo: “In reference to the last weekend murder in Orange Walk police have detained several persons, may of them have been questioned and we are getting feedback from all of them that can assist the investigation at this moment. We have been able to have a vehicle that we are looking for that can assist us likewise in that investigation.”
Reporter: Are any of the detainees women ?
ASP Alejandro Cowo: “No, all male persons.”
At this morning’s police press briefing, ASP Cowo updated the media on a robbery of the gas station on Caye Cauker. This morning in San Pedro Magistrate Court, the police charged 19 year old Daniel Hughes of Aloe Vera Street and a minor for robbery as well as keeping a firearm and ammunition without a license.
