Earlier this week we told you of a case where a minor reportedly raped another minor in Hopkins Village, Stann Creek District. Initially we reported that the victim was seven years old; police confirmed, however, that the child was only five years old. Love News also learnt today that there are two cases under investigation involving two little girls who are both five years old. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvett says other agencies are on board the investigation.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “On Sunday a 24 year old woman from Sittee River Village Visited the Hopkins Police Station accompanied by her five year old daughter where she reported to the police that her daughter made a complaint to her that she was assaulted by a young man who lives in that immediate vicinity. There was also a second complaint made where an older man accompanied by his five year old niece visited as well the Hopkins Police Station and made a similar report. A medical examination was done on both of those five year old female children where one of them is said to have been carnally known whilst the other there seemed to have been no sexual activity. It is a matter being investigated at this time. The Human Development Department has been brought on board. From what the police have been able to gather so far is that the accused person involved in these incidents seems to be a 14 year old male so we are in the process of continuing the investigation and thereafter whatever is gathered evidence wise will be compiled and sent to the DPP for her direction.”
