Police investigate stabbing death of man found in drain

Just before seven on Friday Morning Belize City police found a male person in a drain on Morning Glory Street. The individual had died and upon a closer inspection, police noticed that he had been stabbed. While he was initially referred by the name Ernie Miranda, today police say they have verified his true identity. ASP Alejandro Cowo provided details of the case.

ASP Alejandro Cowo, Head of Crimes Investigation Branch, Belize City: “After making checks at the Vital Statistics Unit and family members we found out that his correct name was Earl Abrham Hyatt, 36 year old Belizean of Zacaranda Street. He was observed with a stab wound to the center of his abdomen. Thereafter the scene was processed and he was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. We know that Mr.Miranda was seen just after midnight walking the street on Martins and that was the last time that he was seen alive.”
