Local authorities in Ambergris Caye are dealing with two separate weekend investigations involving a domestic-related burglary and the sudden death of an American tourist during a marine excursion.  Police have issued a “wanted” notice for Joan Sebastian Perez following a bizarre burglary on Seagrape Drive.  According to official reports, 37-year-old Mariela Perez left her home on Saturday, January 24, after arranging for her ex-common-law partner, Joan, to care for their daughter. While Mariela was out with friends at a local establishment, a disagreement reportedly broke out between the two over the phone.  The situation escalated when Joan allegedly sent Mariela a video showing that he had broken into her locked cement residence to drop the child off. Upon returning home, Mariela discovered her front door forced open and the lock, valued at $600 Belize dollars, destroyed.
