Police locate three missing persons; two were found dehydrated and delusional

There is good news to report as police have located three of the persons who had been reported missing over the last week. Among them is Iverson Neal, whose family had been searching for, for a week. Neal went missing exactly one week ago, on December 16th. Police say he was found by a resident of Belmopan.

ASP Alejandro Cowo, Belize Police Department: “The first one was located on Saturday in Belmopan, that was the person of Iverson Neal, he was found sometime in the evening in the outskirts of Belmopan by a concerned citizen who therefore after handed him over to the police. Police noted that Mr.Neal was dehydrated and was going through some kind of delusion and he was taken to the hospital where thereafter family members arrived and he was handed over to his family. We have not had an opportunity to speak to him because I know that he was taken to seek medical attention this morning.”

Police had indicated that they had reason to believe that Neal was still alive, but his family refuted the possibility fearing the worst and because they believed his girlfriend was holding back on information. ASP Cowo says it is understandable why the family took that position.

ASP Alejandro Cowo, Belize Police Department: “Well the family comments I know is because of what they are going through and they want to know where their loved one is and anybody would react like that and we do not personally take anything if that is their comment that is their comment. We know that we are doing our investigation and from the beginning I told him that the way that the investigation was being conducted that we knew or had that feeling that he was still alive.”

ASP Cowo said that the departmetn has also located Benson Butler and 11-year-old Javier Foreman.

ASP Alejandro Cowo, Belize Police Department: “I again thank the police officers and this demonstrates to us that the police officers are vigilant on the streets because it caught the attention and as they saw the person and that is when they went and they saw him and identified that he was one of the missing persons that we had reported earlier during the week. He also had signs of dehydration and also we can see that he was suffering from some kind of delusion. He again was treated by the police, given food, assistance and water and thereafter we contacted the family and he was handed over to his loved ones.”

Reporter: He was found in the city?

ASP Alejandro Cowo, Belize Police Department:He was found right here in Belize City. We likewise had information that he was somewhere around here until we were able to locate him yesterday. The other minor that was missing Javier Foreman he was located in the same vicinity of New Road and he was handed over to his grandmother.”

Police say that they have also located Fifteen year old Janine Teul. She was found in Belmopan and police there have interviewed her since. According to ASP Cowo, the teen was not considered missing as she maintained constant communication with her family. They did not know where she was, however. ASP Cowo says that she has been reunited with her family and since she is a minor, police are investigating the case further
