A vehicle heading east on the George Price Highway was intercepted by police at a checkpoint on Friday. According to Assistant Commissioner of Police, Joseph Myvett, police were able to make a drug bust.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “On the third of January sometime around 2:30pm Roaring Creek police were on a vehicular checkpoint around miles 45&47 on the George Price Highway where they conducted a search on a blue Toyota Corolla car with Benque Viejo license plates which at the time was being driven by one Walter Castillo, 19 years and also present at the time was Santos Castillo 21, Victor Yeague 30, and Adan Hernandez Marroquin, 31. During the search police discovered a black bag containing two parcels of suspected cannabis when weighed amounted to 1,976 grams. So far police have arrested and charged all four persons for the crime of possession with intent to supply a controlled drug.”
A man was arrested and charged for a car incident that occurred back in October. ACP Myvett stated he collided into two people riding a motorcycle.
ACP Joseph Myvette, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “The arrest of Martin Ramos, 45 years for two counts of causing death by careless conduct and he was arrested in Orange Walk for an accident that occurred on the 7th of October 2016 on the Orange Walk/San Antonio Road where he was west bound when he collided into one Abraham Diaz 25 years, and Antonio Solis who were the passenger on a motorcycle. As a result both persons lost their lives and as a consequence an investigation was carried out where he was later arrested and charged over the weekend based on the direction from the DPP.”
According to Myvett, the charges took long to be levied because the case took some time to be built before the DPP was satisfied with the charges.
