Police making progress in Murder Cases

US National Lamont Lipka was shot and killed in May on Ambergris Caye. The investigation is still ongoing.  And the police now say that shortly after Lipka’s murder, several persons were detained. The questioning has led to a firearm being recovered. Ballistic testing on the firearm at the forensic lab in relation to the expended shells found at the scene, prove that the weapon was used to murder Lipka.  The individuals who were initially detained will be re-interviewed again. While police are making some strides in that case, the suspect for the shooting of Elroy Saldano, the Belize City resident who was shot near BWSL in Belize City last week monday, has been charged with murder today.

ASP Alejandro Cowo: “Police arrested and charged on the 23rd of October Keon Bowen 19 years old Belizean warehouse attendant of an 18 Mopan St. address for the crime of attempted murder, use of deadly means of harm and dangerous harm. However, with the passing of Mr. Saldano the following day he was removed from Hattieville Prison this morning where the charges will be upgraded to the crime of murder. He was at a residence at Haul St. where they had been an argument with him and other persons who live in that vicinity.”

While Lockewood’s family prepares for a barbecue on Saturday morning to raise funds for his medical expenses.  Today is the funeral for 19 year old Charleston Cleland, whose body was found with a slit throat on Saturday morning near Bravo Motors on the George Price Highway.
