Police Minister Announces Construction of New Stations Across Belize

Police Minister, Kareem Musa, has announced the upcoming construction and installation of police stations and sub-formations across the country.  The stations are being built through funding provided by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) with the aim of increasing police presence in the six districts.

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs: “Again thanks to CABEI we are going to be having a ground breaking in several parts of the country starting I believe first in San Narciso in the Corozal district. We have a sub station going on Chetumal Street. We have a full police station coming in Caye Caulker, a full police station in San Ignacio/ Santa Elena, in Bella Vista we have a sub station and then of course an administrative building in Belmopan. And so we’re expected to break ground on all of those this year.”

Musa was speaking at the inauguration of fifty new surveillance cameras which were installed throughout Belize City as part of a multi-million-dollar CABEI project. He also said this week that the police department is awaiting the passing in of recruits from last year’s training intake, which will bring the total number of officers to over two thousand four hundred.
