Police Officer Accused of Sexually Assaulting Minor Granted Bail

A cop is out on bail after being accused of sexually assaulting a minor. Twenty-six-year-old Melvin Canul appeared in the Belize City Magistrate’s Court where he pleaded guilty to the charge. He was granted bail in the sum of three thousand dollars which he managed to meet. The seventeen-year-old minor reported to police that on Monday, September 11, Canul grabbed her on her buttocks. Canul is due back in court on November 14.
