Police Officer, Alicia Trapp’s story had fallen out of the headlines but today, she was able to secure an initial victory in the courts. As we reported, Trapp was accused of violating the Police Department’s social media policy for taking to Facebook and venting about an incident involving her and Minister Julius Espat during village council elections in June 2022. Trapp sought relief from the court for what her attorney says was an arbitrary decision to punish her for exercising her rights. Today, High Court Justice Geneviève Chabot (sha-boe) ruled that both Trapp and the Department were partially successful in their application. Trapp’s attorney, Orson “OJ” Elrington spoke to Love News late this evening.
Elrington says that given the developments in this matter, it puts his client in a good position when the substantive matter is heard, later in the year.
