An officer attached to the Orange Walk Police Station was arraigned in court yesterday after a resident of Guinea Grass Village reported a case of police brutality. The incident occurred on November 6 in the said village against Hugo Noh. According to reports Police Constable Jaime Gongora assaulted Noh with a pistol following an altercation between them in front of a supermarket. Noh reported the matter to police and according to Commanding Officer, Superintendent Selvin Tillett Gongora was off duty at the time of the incident. He has been charged for wounding and was granted bail of four thousand dollars which he met yesterday. The case was adjourned until February 21, 2017. PC Gongora will also face internal disciplinary measures.
