Reports reaching our newsroom are that a police officer lost his life this morning at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital. Love News understands that Corporal David Jimenez was at home experiencing respiratory distress and seizures when his spouse called 911 for assistance. An ambulance responded to the officer’s home near the Lord Ridge Cemetery just after six o’clock this morning. Upon arrival at the KHMH, however, the ambulance was blocked at the gate. The reason cited was that Corporal Jimenez was suspected of having Covid-19 as he was swabbed on Monday due to exposure. Love News understands that the ambulance was not allowed pass the gate until two and a half hours later. Corporal Jimenez was taken inside and handed over to the doctors but he died within half an hour. Up to the time of his death the result of his Covid-19 test was still pending. Corporal David Jimenez was attached to Precinct Three in Belize City. He was in the news a few months ago for receiving an award of excellence. If his result for Covid-19 is positive Jimenez will be the second police officer to die this year from Covid-19 related complications. The first to pass away was 25-year-old Elsner Medina who died early November and was diagnosed post mortem.
