On Boxing Day, a police officer was hit while he drove his motorcycle in Belize City, but the driver of the vehicle did not stop to render him any aid. ASP Cowo says it happened around ten o’clock in the night.
ASP Alejandro Cowo, Belize Police Department: “Police Constable Keenon Garbutt, who is attached to the Special Patrol Unit patrolling in the Martins area, he was driving his motorcycle on Mahogany Street heading towards the Complex Street and upon reaching the corner of Mahogany Street and Santa Barbara Street he was knocked down from behind by a white in color vehicle. The vehicle sped off and made good it’s escape. Police in the area pursued the vehicle and later on detained two persons that were inside of the vehicle, a male and a female. The police was taken to the hospital where he is still admitted in a stable condition. The two persons are in police custody and police is dealing with this matter at this moment.”
25-year-old PC Keenon Garbutt sustained head injuries and as reported by ASP Cowo, he is in stable condition.
