Police Officer Stabbed in Belize City, Teenager Detained

A police officer is recovering after being stabbed on Monday night in Belize City. 28-year-old, Zani Savala was working special duties at the Good Will grocery store on Central American Boulevard when a teenager stabbed him in the left arm.  Preliminary reports indicate that the store was about to be closed, and were only allowing the customers already inside to complete their purchases.  19-year-old, Kijahe Molina, approached the entrance in an attempt to enter the store, but was told that they had already closed for business.  The teenager reportedly got upset and pulled out a knife and stabbed the police officer.  Quick response by the Police led to the detention of Molina.  PC Savala was treated and released from the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
