Police Officers Complete Professional Development Training

The Belize Police Department says fifty-two officers have successfully completed an intensive Police Constable Development Course aimed at strengthening professionalism and leadership within the organization.  The month-long training program commenced on May 4 and concluded on Friday, June 5 at the National Police Training Academy. According to the department, the course was designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and competencies of serving police officers as they continue to advance in their careers.  Meanwhile, on Saturday, June 6, fifteen non-commissioned officers, including sergeants and corporals, participated in a specialized workshop focused on professional public interaction and complaint handling.  The session was facilitated by customer service specialist Heather Jones and covered key areas such as making positive first impressions, effective communication, confidentiality, and de-escalation techniques during stressful encounters.  Police officials say the training is part of ongoing efforts to build stronger relationships between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Officers who attended the workshop noted that courteous service, clear communication, and professionalism are critical to fostering public trust and confidence in the police.  Also in attendance were Officer Commanding the San Ignacio Police Formation, Superintendent Cesar Franco, and Deputy Administrator Sophy McDougal.
