Six female Police Officers of the Belmopan Police Substation were given awards last night for their dedication and work efforts. Cayo correspondent, Fem Cruz has the details of the award ceremony.

Six female Police Officers of the Belmopan Police Substation were given awards last night for their dedication and work efforts. Cayo correspondent, Fem Cruz has the details of the award ceremony.

Fem Cruz, Cayo Correspondent: A recognition award ceremony for six outstanding police officers from the Belmopan Police sub formation under the commander of Superintendent Daniel Itchi was held on Tuesday night at Wings Stop in Belmopan. Assistant Superintendent of Police second officer in charge Elroy Carcamo spoke about the award. 

Assistant Superintendent Elroy Carcomo, Second Officer in Command, Belmopan Police: “Six females were awarded for outstanding performance in 2016 and this is part of our women’s month appreciation dinner that we had for Belmopan Police formation. We awarded in the category of best dressed where WPC Laura Smith and WPC Rhea Gutierrez were awarded. Most disciplined went to WPC Nicole Crawford. Outstanding female officer with the most arrest we had a tight competition with that and WPC Clara Michaels and WPC Lavern Smith was awarded in that category. Then we look at the most outstanding and most disciplined for the year 2019 from Belmopan Police Formation and that was awarded to W Sergeant Kendra Lyons.

Lavern Smith, Police Constable: ‘I’m honored to be awarded last night, I want to give thanks to God and my family especially my mom. I work very hard at what I do I’m here to protect and serve the community I believe we sign up to do a job and the public expects something of us that whenever they give us a report they expect the police to go ahead and follow up on the report.”
