Police Commissioner Chester Williams has reportedly worked out an arrangement with the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where officers can access healthcare. Williams was on our morning show last month explaining that police officers are entitled to free healthcare at public hospitals but are being required to pay upfront when they go to the KHMH. Yesterday Minster of Home Affairs Kareem Musa gave the update, saying that an agreement on a way forward has been reached.

Kareem Musa, Minister of Home Affairs: “I’m aware that it has been practiced for so many years, decades even, and so that is not something that I hope will be changed. I know that the KHMH is in fact informing certain officers that they should be paying for their healthcare but we are saying to the Ministry of Health, we’ve already, the Commissioner has already had a meeting with the CEO from the Ministry of Health and that has been ironed out, so to speak and moving forward it is expected that officers will not be charged whenever they go to the KHMH.”
