Police Probe Unlawful Sex Case After 15-Year-Old Reports Incident

Police in San Pedro have launched an investigation into a reported case of unlawful sexual intercourse after a 15-year-old girl told authorities she engaged in sexual activity with an 18-year-old male earlier this year.  The report was made two weeks ago, when the minor’s mother accompanied her at the San Pedro Police Station.  The minor reported that on July 22, she was at the home of her karate trainer in the San Pablo area of San Pedro Town. It was there, she said, that she had sexual intercourse with her 18-year-old boyfriend, a Belizean resident of San Pedrito.  Following the report, officers activated child protection procedures. The social worker was contacted, and the minor was taken for a medical examination in the presence of her mother, a social worker, and a police officer. The exam revealed injuries that were certified as grievous harm.
