Police conducted a raid early yesterday morning, targeting a residence tied to a prominent figure in the PIV gang in Belize City. Authorities uncovered 4.2 pounds of marijuana at the home and detained a man who was inside. They then issued a warrant for the arrest of another suspect. Later that same day, officers discovered a stash of firearms in an abandoned lot in the same PIV-controlled area. The investigation is ongoing. In a separate case, police arrested Wayne Henry and Gian Vela after stopping their red Ford Escape at a checkpoint in Sarawee village on Monday, October 28. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a kilogram (1,370 grams) of suspected cocaine. Both men were initially charged with possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply. However, Henry accepted full responsibility for the drugs and pleaded guilty, resulting in a fine of $28,000. The charge against Vela was subsequently dropped.
