There is a group of young men and women that remain in training at the Police Academy in Belmopan and later in the year, they should become full-fledged police officers. Of the group that’s there now, Police Commissioner Chester Williams confirmed that about 20 officers will be dispatched to Dangriga Town. He explained this to the media in a press encounter yesterday in the southern municipality.
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “The recruit squad is still four months away from graduation and it is our hope that as a part of the expansion of of the Dangriga Police formation that twenty of those recruits will be coming to Dangriga Town to complement the officers who are already here. We’re looking at constructing a police substation in New Site area in Dangriga that way we can decentralize our services giving more access to the people of Dangriga particularly those who live in that area rather than them having to come way out at this police station here which might discourage them from coming when they do have issues they’ll have a police station within their area where they can make their respective reports or complaints.”
