Police Search for Suspect in Shooting Incident in Hattieville, Belize District

Akeem Augustus is being sought by Police for a shooting last night in Hattieville, Belize District.  25-year-old, Tyler Lewis was shot at around eleven thirty in East Windmill area.  Initial reports say that Lewis was at home when he heard someone calling for him outside.  When he went to the front door, he saw a man, known to him as Akeem Augustus, Twho fired several shots at him.  Lewis was shot to the abdomen and got grazed in the chest.  Love News understands that Police found four expended shells at the crime scene.  Officer Commanding Easter Division, Senior Superintendent of Police Hilberto Romero told us more. 

Hilberto Romero, Senior Superintendent of Police: “On Sunday the 23rd Day of July 2023 police responded to a shooting incident at the Wind Mill area Hattieville Village. Upon their arrival they saw Tyler Laws, 25 years of age with gunshot injuries to his body. He was immediately rushed to the KHMH where he was treated and is now listed in a stable condition. Tyler Lewis was able to identify the shooter and so we are looking for one person in regard to this shooting incident. We have established it is a drug related.”

Meanwhile, Lewis has undergone surgery for his injuries.  Augustus appears in our news archives as being the victim of a shooting in 2020; in 2016 he was charged for illegal firearm and ammunition, and in 2019 he faced multiple counts of drug trafficking charges.  Police are currently seeking Augustus.
