One man was shot by police after he allegedly shot another man on Logwood Street in Belize City. Thirty-year-old Ian Jenkins was shot to his finger by police after he attempted to evade apprehension. Sometime before nine-thirty on Sunday night Jenkins allegedly shot nineteen-year-old Denvoy Bartley, who was reportedly walking in the area. According to the Head of the National Criminal Investigation, Senior Superintendent of police Hilberto Romero quick police response led to Jenkins’ apprehension.
Hilberto Romero, Head of Criminal Investigation Branch: “Investigation revealed that Denvoy Bartley was in the area when he was approached by a male person who fired shots at him. The police responded quickly which led to the detention of Ian Jenkins and a firearm was found with him. The police officer who responded reported that he came under threat from this person who had the firearm and he fired a shot which caught the person on the finger. Bartley remains at the KHMH in a critical condition and Jenkins was treated and released from the KHMH.”

Bartley is listed in a critical condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital.
