
Police Special Constable Found Guilty for unlawful Sexual Intercourse

A former Police Special Constable was sentenced to thirty years in prison for assault upon a child and unlawful sexual intercourse. Twelve years were given for assault of a child under sixteen by penetration, eight years were given for the first count of unlawful sexual intercourse, and 10 years for the second count of unlawful sexual intercourse. The sentences will run concurrently, meaning that Carlos Chavez will serve a total of 12 years with effect from March 14, 2023. Love News understands that the rape occurred in Corozal, and at the time of the incident, the victim was 14-years-old. During his trial, Chavez denied the allegations, but was still found guilty by Justice Antoinette Moore. He was represented by Attorney Oscar Selgado.
