Police take on Cobo’s murder

Cobo’s body was found in the Caribbean Sea in a state of advanced decomposition just after ten o’clock yesterday morning.  The teenager’s body was found wrapped in a sheet and some barbed wire and anchored with four cement blocks. 

Cobo’s body was found in the Caribbean Sea in a state of advanced decomposition just after ten o’clock yesterday morning.  The teenager’s body was found wrapped in a sheet and some barbed wire and anchored with four cement blocks.  According to Superintendent Alejandro Cowo, they have not detained anyone for questioning.

ASP Alejandro Cowo, Head of Crimes Investigation Branch Belize City: “On Wednesday December 4th at about 10:10 am  police were called to the Belize Port Authority which is located on Caesar Ridge and almost half way up the pier and about fifty feet away from the pier police saw the body of a male person floating face down on the sea. With the assistance of the Belize Coast Guard they managed the retrieve the body and upon inspection of the body it was noted that it was in an advanced state of decomposition. The body was wrapped in a sheet and also had some barbed wire and cement blocks attached to the body. Later on on the day the body of that person was identified as a missing person Michael Reyes Cobo, 18 years old of San Mateo area San Pedro Town.”

Cobo’s body was taken to the Belize Medical College where it was certified that cause of death was inconclusive.
