Three days ago it was reported that a Muslim family in Belize was detained by the Special Branch Unit and taken to the Raccoon Street Police Station. The family alleges that their detention was on basis of religious discrimination. Their holy items, such as their holy book, the Quran was also taken along with them. Since then we have been trying to get a comment from the police but no one has been able to comment on it. Assistant Commissioner of Police, Chester Williams told the media he was completely unaware of the situation.
Yesterday the Ahmad family gave an interview to the media where they stated that they plan to file a law suit against the police station.
