Police are yet to make any arrests for the gruesome incident that led to the family of 27-year-old Michael Whittaker laying him to rest for a second time. Last Friday, Whittaker’s missing skull was located after it had been taken from his gravesite in Corozal. Police reported that several individuals were under suspicion in connection with the disturbance, which they believe was an act of intimidation. One such suspect was a member of the police department, who was being sought for questioning. Today, Commissioner of Police Chester Williams provided an update on the investigation and stated that the officer was detained but later released.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “That police officer was brought in. He was detained for forty eight hours during which he was interviewed by the police intensely. We have received certain information from him, I’m not going to go into details but there are other followups that we’re doing and there’s a need for us to bring in additional people to be interviewed. “
Reporter: Is he believed to be involved or be connected with the persons involved ?
Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police: “We’re looking at the officer in question and many other people as possible persons of interest in respect of that issue and other issues. I don’t want to go too much into details and just await for the investigation to be carried through.”
Whittaker was killed in Chetumal earlier this month along with 18-year-old, Aaron Tun. The two men’s bodies were found among three others at a bus stop.
