Port Loyola FC Celebration Turns Destructive, Mayor Calls for Penalties

The Port Loyola Football Club won the Premiere League of Belize’s championship yesterday and has been celebrating since. However, amidst the intense festivities, exuberance turned destructive as a group of fans damaged a fence at the Norman Broaster Stadium in the Cayo District. The incident was caught on camera and shows several men tearing a portion of the chain-linked fence apart. The destructive move has drawn the ire of many, including the Mayor of the Twin Towns, Earl Trapp Jr. He spoke to our newsroom about the unfortunate incident and why he believes the team should be penalized.
