Port of Belize Limited Requests Investigation from Ombudsman and Contractor General

The Port of Belize Limited has written to the Ombudsman, Gilbert Swazo and the Contractor General, Maria Arthurs, pointing out that they are still awaiting a response from their offices.  PBL had written to the Ombudsman on May 30 calling for an investigation into Erwin Contreras and the signing of the Definitive Agreement.  That letter was sent seven weeks ago, and the Ombudsman has not acknowledged receiving the letter nor has he indicated if an investigation will occur.  The second letter to Ombudsman, dated July 10, further noted that an investigation is even more required now since there have been new revelations in the Definitive Agreement saga.  Among those are the approval for a Senate Inquiry into the Definitive Agreement; the legal opinions sought by the government; the communication between the Leader of the Opposition and Royal Caribbean; the environment non-compliance by Portico, and the lack of consultation with the Belize Port Authority or the acquisition of a port license for Portico.  The Port of Belize Limited wrote a similar letter to the Contractor General as a follow up to their May 30 letter, also asking that an investigation be launched into the Definitive Agreement.
