Port of Belize Urges Investigation into Definitive Agreement

The Port of Belize Limited has sent off a second letter to the Contractor General and the Ombudsman.  Both letters have cited additional reasons why they believe that an investigation is necessary.  Among those reasons, is the release sent out by the Belize Port Authority indicating that at no time were they consulted when the Definitive Agreement was drafted, nor were they consulted when the legislation was drafted to accommodate the agreement.  Additionally, the PBL noted that the investigation is warranted after several government ministers condemned the agreement, and that the former Prime Minister Dean Barrow has declared that Erwin Contreras has no authority to sign the agreement without Cabinet’s approval.
