Postman charged for transporting illegal cargo

A postman was caught transporting illegal cargo on Friday by Corozal police. Police stopped the postal van that was heading from Corozal to Belize City. 

A postman was caught transporting illegal cargo on Friday by Corozal police. Police stopped the postal van that was heading from Corozal to Belize City.  Police searched and found several bottles of contraband alcohol and reportedly over a quarter pound of weed. The postman was detained, and the postal truck was taken into custody for a full search. Senior Superintendent, Joseph Myvette explained the details of the investigation.

ACP Joseph Myvette, Head of National Crimes Investigation Branch: “Officers from Corozal visited the Magistrate’s Court parking lot where the post office is also situated where they approached a white van Transit type Ford van with government license plates and approached the driver who was one Wilodell Neal, 25 years of a Belize City address. Where he was spoken to by the officers the reason for them being there which was they suspect that he was carrying illegal stuff and wanted to conduct a search on the van which he did allow and in so doing officers were able to find nine bottles of assorted liquor in the front portion of the van. Thereafter they conducted a search on the package portion of the van where a transparent package was found near the spare wheel inside the van which when opened contained cannabis amounting to 141.6 grams. As a result he has since been arrested and charged for possession with intend to supply.”
