Pregnant Woman Injured, Elderly Man Killed in Dangriga Town Incident

A pregnant woman was seriously injured and an elderly man was killed after a white Chrysler van knocked her down on George Price Drive, Dangriga Town.  Just before one o’clock this afternoon, 30-year-old, Glenda Banegas was standing at the road side next to 86-year-old, Michael Stuart Scott awaiting the bus.  Whilst waiting, 59-year-old, Ezekiel Cacho, was driving the van, and lost control of the vehicle as he approached the bus stop.  As a result, both Banegas and Scott were flung from the road side.  The senior citizen, Scott, died moments after being hit while Banegas underwent surgery with plans for a transfer to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital for further treatment.  Correspondent Harry Arzu went to the area and spoke to one of the witnesses, Eddie Vargas.

The driver, Ezekiel Cacho, was detained by Dangriga Police.  Love News understands that the insurance for the Chrysler van had expired in June 2022.
