President of the NTUCB Writes the PM over the Union Not being Included in the National Medical COVID-19 Response Team

President of the National Trade Union Congress of Belize, Luis Martinez has written to Prime Minister John Briceno over the composition of the National Medical COVID-19 Response Team. The problem for the NTUCB is that they don’t have a representative on the team. In the letter, Martinez tells the Prime Minister (quote) “The NTUCB wishes to bring to your attention that we have not been offered a seat on the National Medical COVID-19 Response Team. We trust that this was merely an oversight and take this opportunity to request that the team’s membership be expanded to include a representative from the NTUCB.” (unquote) the NTUCB says that it is a concern that a large portion of infected persons are from the labor force. Martinez reminds the Prime Minister that the NTUCB formed part of the COVID-19 Oversight Committee under the UDP government. Martinez says that the NTUCB is dissatisfied that government decided to exclude the umbrella union.
