President of the Republic of China, Taiwan, in Belize

President of the Republic of China, Taiwan, Dr. Tsai Ing-wen, arrived in Belize City on Sunday. The President’s visit strengthens the diplomatic and economic ties between Taiwan and Belize.  Taiwan and Belize have had diplomatic relations since 1989, and Taiwan has provided development assistance to Belize in various sectors, including agriculture, education, and healthcare.  Dr Tsai Ing-wen participated in a dinner in Belize City with members of the Taiwanese community in Belize. This morning, a special sitting of the House of Representatives was held in Belmopan following a signing ceremony for the Technical Cooperation Framework Agreement and the handing over of digital devices. Hipolito Novelo reports.
