Prime Minister Briceno Meets US Senator Dodd: Talks Focus on Economic Prosperity, Guatemala, Taiwan, and Haiti
The US Embassy in Belize has confirmed that Prime Minister John Briceno and US Senator Chris Dodd, Special Presidential Advisor for the Western Hemisphere, have met during Dodd’s visit to the country. The discussion surrounded the expansion of the U.S.-Belize partnership, as well as a range of priorities, including the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity, which offers a great opportunity for Belize to experience growth through an improved investment climate. Also on the table were the democratic transfer of power in Guatemala and Belize’s vibrant partnership with Taiwan. Senator Dodd also met with Foreign Affairs Minister, Francis Fonseca. Tabled at that meeting were talks on Belize’s opportunity to lead the way on the blue economy and marine conservation through the Partnership for Atlantic Cooperation. Additionally, with Belize considered an important regional party, they spoke on potential solutions in resolving the crisis in Haiti. As we reported yesterday, Dodd will head to Costa Rica where he will meet with President Chaves and members of his cabinet, members of the National Assembly, and private sector leaders. Love News understands that Dodd’s visits are to follow up on commitments President Biden made at the inaugural Leaders’ Summit of the Americas Partnership for Economic Prosperity and look ahead to the 2025 Summit in Costa Rica.
