Prime Minister Briceno to Retain Most CEOs in Upcoming Government Term

Prime Minister John Briceno says that most of the Chief Executive Officers who served under his previous term will be returning to the government. While the government has yet to name CEOs within the various ministries, Briceno says not much will change. Yesterday, after the 26 newly appointed ministers and ministers of state were sworn in, Briceno weighed in on the preliminary decision. He was also asked about the decision not to install a new CEO in the Ministry of Transport last year after several people had left the post.

John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “He had a CEO. He had Valentino Shal.”

Reporter: Temporary.

John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “Well because we were coming already in my mind I was already seeing that we will soon come to the end of the term so it did not make sense to bring in a new CEO to be able to work with him.”

Reporter: And when will the CEOs be announced ?

John Briceño, Prime Minister of Belize: “Shouldn’t be longer than Wednesday but most of them are going to stay, a few of them are going to be changed.”

One CEO rumored not to make a return is Kennedy Carillo who served under Minister Andre Perez.
