Prime Minister John Briceno Set to Reveal New Cabinet Portfolios This Weekend

Prime Minister John Briceno is already one day into his second term after being sworn in yesterday in Belize City.  It is expected that tomorrow he will issue a press release with his new Cabinet ministers and their portfolios.  Information on who will be shifted, added or removed as a minister is scarce, and it may have to do with the Prime Minister attending to familial duties today as well as the funeral for Don Belizario Carballo, a former member of the PUP ODS and a long-time supporter of the party.  It is the norm that the Prime Minister would meet with his ministers to discuss the portfolios prior to the announcement which we are told will happen in the hours ahead.  One thing we can say for sure is that he will retain the Ministry of Finance as has been the norm for previous administrations.  Other than that, our inside sources are mum on the shuffling of the portfolios.  We’ll keep our ears and eyes open and report on the listing as soon as it becomes available.
