Contrary to reports on other media outlets, Senior Counsel and former Senator Lisa Shoman has not been appointed as a judge for the Belize Supreme Court.  Love News understands that the Prime Minister has been looking at several possible options.  Among them are Shoman and Westmin James, a UWI lecturer of Trinidad.  There has been no official appointment and according to a credible source, the Prime Minister had merely consulted the Leader of the Opposition on the names as a formality.  Shoman has been in our news recently as the elected President of the Inter-American Development Bank Administrative Tribunal; a position she earned earlier this month.  Back in February, Shoman was appointed as a judge on an independent regional judicial tribunal mandated to settle disputes between staff members of the CARICOM Secretariat and the regional entities for whom they work.  Meanwhile, James is no stranger to Belize as he had worked alongside Shoman in the UNIBAM Section 53 case and currently serves on the Caricom tribunal as well.
