Prime Minister Weighs In on the Dr. Manzanero Saga

Dr Marvin Manzanero – he remains out in the cold as the current administration does not want him to continue serving as the Director of Health Services, and he has denied offers given to him by the Minister of Health and the Prime Minister.

Dr Marvin Manzanero – he remains out in the cold as the current administration does not want him to continue serving as the Director of Health Services, and he has denied offers given to him by the Minister of Health and the Prime Minister.  Love News understands that there is more than meets the eye in this situation, and that in essence, based on the assessments by this current administration, Dr Manzanero had failed as the DHS.  Prime Minister John Briceno praised Dr Melissa Diaz-Musa for stepping in to flatten the curve, and expanding testing.  After that address by the Prime Minister, Love News asked the PM to explain why no credit was given to the DHS in the Covid-19 fight.

Hon. John Briceno, Prime Minister of Belize

Hon. John Briceno, Prime Minister of Belize: “Well I don’t think I can comment on what the Minister of Health said or did not say but this is what I can tell you. That whilst we appreciate the work that Dr.Manza did earlier on when there was so many unknowns Dr.Manza failed in controlling the spread of COVID for many reasons and we don’t have to go down that road, the point is that he failed and we promised the Belizean people that we’re going to do something about it and we’re going to fix it and here we brought a woman- and that’s what you should be talking- I mean the media. That here we brought in a woman, a doctor and I know that some people are just honing on to the idea because she’s a Musa, she’s a Diaz before she was married to a Musa- that came in and put a team together and flattened that curve. When we had sometimes as much as ten people dying a day here we are now today that we have flattened the curve from over 5,000 to less than a hundred and we don’t have as many people- thank God- that are dying. Now we can’t say now okay we have complete victory because you know the minute we bring down our guards the  virus is going to come up again but we need to appreciate the work that Dr.Musa did and as to Dr.Manza it’s not that Dr.Manza is out of a job. When you get a position in any part of government you don’t get a position until you die you know there have been many DHSs the UDP changed DHS I mean watch poor Dr.Pitts one of their own how they changed him I didn’t hear anybody making a big deal about it but yet here we bring a woman, did a damn good job and now the media is trying to create a problem over it and Dr.Manza still has a job.”
