The long awaited list of Ambassadors in the foreign service was released a few minutes before news time tonight. According to the Office of the Prime Minister the designates are: Carlos Fuller, Permanent Representative Designate to the United Nations; Lynn Young, Ambassador Designate to the United States of America and Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States; Oscar Arnold, Ambassador Designate to the United Mexican States; Therese Rath, High Commissioner Designate to the United Kingdom; Ambassador Alexis Rosado, Ambassador Designate to the Kingdom of Belgium, the European Union and the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States; Jose Alpuche, Ambassador Designate to the Republic of Guatemala; Ambassador Cherie Nisbet, Ambassador Designate to the Republic of El Salvador; Ambassador Lou-Anne Burns Martinez, Ambassador Designate to the Republic of Cuba; Dr. Candice Pitts, Ambassador Designate to the Republic of China (Taiwan) ; Ambassador Amalia Mai, Chief Executive Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, has also been named as the Non-Resident Ambassador Designate to SICA. Additionally, His Excellency Lawrence Sylvestre will continue to serve as Belize’s Non-Resident Ambassador to CARICOM. The release noted that the designates represent a cross-section of the community and a mix of new and experienced professionals. Notably, 40 percent of the designates are women.
