Forty eight year old Orson Stephens, a security guard by profession was working at the Port Loyola Community Pre- School compound when he was mortally wounded. On Saturday night at 8:55 p.m. a man went to the school and shot at Stephens once, killing him. The police are investigating that murder.
ASP Alejandro Cowo: “They observed the lifeless body of a male person who was lying on the Verandah beside the preschool. The male person was identified as that of Erson Stevens a 48 year old Belizean who lives and resides in that same compound there. He was observed with a single gunshot wound to the left side of his chest. We have based on the investigation that somebody went there. There was a slippers that was found inside of the compound left by, we suspect, it was for the suspect.”
Reporter: “They didn’t rob him?”
ASP Alejandro Cowo: “No robbery, nothing”
Love News spoke to the Principal Elizabeth Pott the Principal of Port Loyola Preschool who said Stephens lived on the compound and his murder was senseless.
Principal: “The security from our school has been shot and seemed motionless so I was confused I didn’t know what to do so I called up my teachers and they said they didn’t hear anything but they will investigate as well and shortly after that I called his sister and she said Yes Ms. but I just get the news too and it’s right on his verandah at school because when I got the message it said on Pelican St. and she said “no it’s right on the Verandah on the school compound” so I rushed over and when I got here they were just taking him away.
Reporter: “Do you know how long he has been working here? or maybe what you know of him or about him?”
Principal: “Well I am working here, this year will make ten years and I met him here and he has been here for a while. This is rather hurtful; I don’t know if hurtful is the word but we feel it like it is one of our own because he is always here and you can always ask him Orson please do this for me, Orson please get this water bottle to the back for me and he is just part of our family here at Port Loyola.”
The police do not have a motive for Stephens’ murder.
