Prison Inmate Receives Additional Three-Year Sentence for Firearms Offense

A man already serving time in prison was given three more years over a firearms offense. Belize City resident, Linsford Baldwin was serving out a two-year, six-month sentence which would have been up in December. However, he was found guilty of a single count of kept unlicensed firearm before Chief Magistrate Jayani Wegodapola today. Baldwin had also been charged with a single count of kept unlicensed ammunition but was found not guilty. By order of the Chief Magistrate his three-year sentence will not being until his current sentence expires in December. The charge extends from an incident on March 16, 2019, where police found him trying to dispose of a nine millimeter pistol.
