The cost of living continues to steadily rise. Price of certain goods have increased in the past weeks with the most recent being the cost of a crate of eggs. The Russia-Ukraine war has left the entire world suffering from rising inflation, making life for most households very difficult, more so for the people of the region who were still reeling from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, which brought with it business closures, loss productivity, reduced tourism arrivals and the reduction in government revenues. Businesses across the country have been implementing plans to mitigate the effects of inflation. Speaking on this matter is Senator of the Private Sector, Kevin Herrera.
Kevin Herrera, Senator: “I think we have to try to find ways of easing the inflationary effects that the increases in the price of fuel has triggered. It doesn’t normally go in that area but in all other areas I mean we’re seeing increases all across the board and this is throughout the world and so I think it’s important that we try to find ways of you know mitigating the inflationary risk that we face. I think the world and certainly us we’re going through a very difficult time right now.”
