Progress in Public Sector Issues: Unions and Government Forge Committees for Solutions

The joint unions were finally able to meet with government officials today on several pending issues.  The meeting lasted several hours at the House of Culture in Belize City.  Upon exit, the President of the Public Service Union (PSU), Dean Flowers was pleased, saying that today saw the creation of committees to discuss and present recommendations on several issues within the public service.

As it relates to the streamlining of salary scales within the government, PSU’s Dean Flowers says the government shared the urgency to get this done.  Also commenting on the matter was the recently elected President for the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU), Nadia Martin-Caliz.
