Twenty-three-year-old Progresso Village resident Daisy Lopez was arrested this week in connection with the fatal stabbing of her sister-in-law 52-year-old Rosita Olivera. Police say that on Tuesday, Lopez was officially charged with murder. Reports are that on Sunday, July 9, Lopez was socializing along with three others when she got into an altercation with a relative. As the encounter escalated, Lopez is said to have left and returned with a knife, at which point Olivera intervened. In her attempts to pacify the situation, Olivera was stabbed to the chest and face. She died of her injuries shortly after.
